DESCRIPTION

The Senior Instructional Designer is an important role for PCP as we continue to expand our core curriculum offerings. This position is focused on designing training for both external and internal participant delivery using a variety of modalities (instructor-led classroom and webinar, self-paced e-learning, blended); and using existing templates to develop training materials such as toolkits, participant and trainer materials, reference tools and data, activities, and certification exams. This position is also responsible for revising existing content on an ongoing basis and sharing recommendations and implementing changes to courses or curriculum. This position partners across the PCP network including our national team, student/faculty community, and our ever expanding client population. Though not the primary focus, on occasion, this position may also deliver training sessions.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE

 

GENERAL

  • Collaborate with the Director of Leadership Development, Director of Operations, and other PCP leadership and extended team members and partners to identify needs and solutions for our projects and infrastructure
  • Use instructional design knowledge and experience to create clear and engaging instructional materials that effectively meet the needs of the organization
  • Partners with outside organizations and departments within the company to understand and assess their training needs and offers viable solutions.
  • Create detailed project plans - outline deliverables, dependencies, timeline to meet project and organizational goals
  • Manage work independently and, when needed, plan customization of projects
  • Manage timelines to ensure project requirements are achieved in a timely fashion and within guidelines
  • Participates in the evaluation of learning and development programs, including design,  assessment, and guidance on program improvements
  • Recommend new tools or processes where needed
  • Perform research activities (including data collection and analysis)
  • Consult and collaborate with subject matter experts from all levels within the organization to translate complex information and concepts into easy-to-understand learning programs and materials that are technically accurate and culturally appropriate.
  • Create storyboards, audio and simulation scripts, job aids, scenarios, learning activities, online course content, instructor-led presentations, learning assessments, user guides, animations, videos and podcasts using sound instructional design theory.
  • Participates in the evaluation of learning and development programs, including design,  assessment, and guidance on program improvements
  • Able to deliver an effective and engaging training session

 

COMMUNICATION

  • Provide regular updates to stakeholders on the progress of projects
  • Solve problems independently, create solutions/tools and communicate concerns in a timely manner
  • Operate within a growth mindset and culture of feedback

 

ADMINISTRATIVE

  • Collaborate with Director of Operations and other team members to support maintenance of Salesforce database and Learning Management System
  • Organize and maintain project files using our web-based project management platforms

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum five-seven  years experience ideally in an academic, non-profit, consulting  or business environment working on instructional design assignments
  • instructional design skills (analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation)
  • Basic to intermediate e-learning development skills utilizing software (for example: Captivate, Camtasia)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, experience in communicating effectively with a diverse group
  • Prefer experience with Leadership development frameworks.
  • Prefer experience with SalesForce and learning management systems
  • Prefer experience in the following industries: healthcare, academia
